Connect Instagram
Step-by-step guide to connect your Instagram Business account to Cloodot.
Connect your Instagram Business account to manage direct messages and conversations directly from Cloodot. This integration allows you to respond to Instagram DMs alongside messages from other channels.
Prerequisites
Before connecting Instagram, ensure you have:
- ✅ An Instagram Business or Creator account
- ✅ A Facebook Page connected to your Instagram account
- ✅ Admin access to the Facebook Page
- ✅ Your Instagram account linked to a Facebook Business account
:::info Instagram messaging requires a Facebook Page connection. If your Instagram isn't connected to a Facebook Page, you'll need to link them first in Facebook Business settings. :::
Step-by-Step Connection Guide
Step 1: Start Instagram Connection
You can start the Instagram connection in two ways:
Option A: From Inbox (When No Channels Connected)
- Navigate to your Cloodot dashboard
- Go to the Inbox or Conversations section
- You'll see "No channels connected" message
- Click the "Connect Instagram" button (red icon)
- The Channel Connection Wizard will open
Option B: From Settings
- Navigate to Settings → Organization → Channels
- Click "Add Channel" or the "+" button
- In the Channel Connection Wizard, select "Instagram"
You'll see an overview of what Instagram integration offers.
Step 2: Authorize Your Instagram Account
- Click the "Authorize Instagram" button
- You'll be redirected to Instagram's authorization page
- Sign in with the Instagram account (or the Facebook account that manages your Instagram Business account)
- Review and grant the requested permissions:
- Access to Instagram accounts
- Manage Instagram messages
- Read Instagram insights
:::warning Make sure you're signing in with the account that has admin access to the Instagram account you want to connect. :::
Step 3: Select Your Instagram Account
- If you manage multiple Instagram accounts, you'll see a list
- Select the Instagram account you want to connect
- Confirm the connection
Step 4: Complete Connection
- You'll be redirected back to Cloodot
- A success message will confirm your Instagram account is connected
- The Instagram channel will appear in your channels list
- You can now receive and respond to Instagram direct messages through Cloodot

Managing Instagram Channels
View Instagram Conversations
All Instagram direct messages will appear in your unified inbox alongside messages from other channels. You can:
- Filter by channel to see only Instagram messages
- Search through Instagram conversation history
- View customer profiles and conversation context
Disconnect Instagram
If you need to disconnect your Instagram account:
- Go to Channel Settings
- Find your Instagram channel
- Click "Disconnect"
- Confirm the disconnection
:::warning Disconnecting will stop receiving new Instagram messages in Cloodot, and your conversation history will be deleted. :::
Reconnect Instagram
You can reconnect your Instagram account at any time by following the connection steps again.
Troubleshooting
"Instagram account already integrated" Error
Problem: You see an error that the Instagram account is already connected.
Solutions:
- The Instagram account is already connected to another workspace
- Disconnect it from the other workspace first, or
- Use a different Instagram account
"No Instagram accounts found"
Problem: No Instagram accounts appear during authorization.
Solutions:
- Ensure your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account
- Verify your Instagram is connected to a Facebook Page
- Make sure you're using the correct Facebook account with admin access
- Check that your Instagram account has messaging enabled
"Authorization failed"
Problem: The authorization process fails.
Solutions:
- Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Try using a different browser
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection
- Make sure pop-up blockers aren't preventing the authorization window
Messages Not Appearing
Problem: Instagram messages aren't showing up in Cloodot.
Solutions:
- Wait a few minutes for messages to sync
- Check that your Instagram account is still connected
- Verify that messaging is enabled on your Instagram account
- Refresh your Cloodot dashboard
