Connect Instagram

Connect your Instagram Business account so DMs land in your Cloodot inbox.

Connect your Instagram Business account to manage direct messages from Cloodot. Instagram DMs land in the same inbox as your other channels, so your team can respond without switching apps.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • An Instagram Business or Creator account
  • A Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account
  • Admin access to the Facebook Page
  • Your Instagram account linked to a Meta Business account

Instagram messaging runs through a connected Facebook Page. If your Instagram isn't linked to one yet, set that up first in Meta Business Suite.

Connect Instagram

1. Open the Channel Connection Wizard

Start from either place:

From the inbox (if no channels are connected yet)

  1. Open Inbox or Conversations
  2. Under the "No channels connected" message, click Connect Instagram (red icon)

From Settings

  1. Go to SettingsOrganizationChannels
  2. Click Add Channel or the + button
  3. Select Instagram

You'll see a short overview of what the Instagram integration does.

2. Authorize your Instagram account

  1. Click Authorize Instagram
  2. Instagram opens its sign-in page
  3. Sign in with the Instagram account — or the Facebook account that manages it
  4. Grant the requested permissions:
    • Access to Instagram accounts
    • Manage Instagram messages
    • Read Instagram insights

Sign in with the account that has admin access to the Instagram account you want to connect.

3. Pick the account to connect

If you manage multiple Instagram accounts, you'll see a list. Select the one you want and confirm.

4. You're connected

Cloodot takes you back to the wizard with a success message, and the Instagram channel appears in your channels list. New DMs will start arriving in your inbox.

Success

Your Instagram account is connected. Instagram DMs will now show up in your Cloodot inbox.

After you connect

With Instagram connected, you can:

  • Receive Instagram DMs in your Cloodot inbox
  • Reply to Instagram users
  • View full conversation history
  • Manage multiple Instagram accounts (each appears as its own channel)
  • Use AI-powered responses
  • Assign conversations to teammates
  • Track Instagram conversation analytics

Managing your Instagram channel

See Instagram conversations

Instagram DMs appear in your unified inbox alongside other channels. You can:

  • Filter by channel to see only Instagram messages
  • Search Instagram conversation history
  • View customer profiles and conversation context

Disconnect Instagram

  1. Go to Channel Settings
  2. Find your Instagram channel
  3. Click Disconnect and confirm

Disconnecting stops new Instagram messages from reaching Cloodot, and your conversation history is deleted.

Reconnect Instagram

Reconnect any time by walking through the connection steps again.

Troubleshooting

"Instagram account already integrated"

The account is already connected to another workspace. Either:

  • Disconnect it from that workspace first, or
  • Use a different Instagram account

"No Instagram accounts found"

No accounts appear during authorization. Check that:

  • It's a Business or Creator account
  • It's linked to a Facebook Page
  • You're signed in with the Facebook account that has admin access
  • Messaging is enabled on the Instagram account

"Authorization failed"

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Try a different browser
  • Check your internet connection
  • Disable pop-up blockers for the auth window

Messages aren't appearing

  • Give it a few minutes to sync
  • Confirm the Instagram account is still connected
  • Make sure messaging is enabled on the Instagram account
  • Refresh your Cloodot dashboard
