Segments

Group contacts dynamically using flexible filter rules.

Segments group contacts dynamically based on rules such as labels, custom fields, activity, or channel.

Segments power:

  • The Segments tab under Contacts (list of all segments).
  • The Leads board columns.
  • The Segment filter in the All Contacts table.

Opening Segments

  1. Go to Contacts in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Segments.

You'll see a list of existing segments and a button to create a new one.

Creating a segment

  1. Click Create Segment.
  2. Define your segment:
    • Give it a clear name (for example: "Recent Instagram Leads", "High LTV Customers").
    • Use the segment builder to add conditions (filters). Each condition has a field, an operator, and a value.
    • Choose how conditions combine: match all (AND) or any (OR) of the rules.
  3. Save the segment.

Available filter fields

Filter on built-in fields (name, email, phone, created date), any contact or conversation custom fields you've created, and labels.

Condition operators by field type

Once saved, a segment:

  • Appears in the Segments list.
  • Becomes available in:
    • The Segment dropdown on the All Contacts page.
    • The segment selector in each column on the Leads board.

Applying segments

  • In All Contacts:
    • Select a segment to see only contacts that match its rules.
    • A banner above the table shows which segment is active and how many contacts match.
  • In Leads:
    • Assign a segment to a column to see matching contacts as lead cards.
    • Use multiple columns with different segments to compare or structure your pipeline.

Segments are dynamic — when contact data or conversations change, segment membership updates automatically based on the rules.

Editing or deleting segments

  • From the Segments page:
    • Open a segment to review its rules.
    • Adjust filters to refine who's included.
    • Delete a segment if you no longer need it.
  • Changes to a segment automatically affect every place it's used (All Contacts filter, Leads columns).

Note: Deleting a segment does not delete contacts. It only removes the grouping rule.
